Wallachian traditional folk music, singing 1, was created, among other things, by exploring the terrain of Timocka and Negotin Krajina.
The traditional folk singing of the Vlachs of northeastern Serbia is unanimous. In addition to solo forms, even those performed in groups are unanimous, which unequivocally indicates the predominance of melodic versus harmonic hearing. When it comes to folk singing, not only in Vlach, but in general, with the aforementioned sound component, its text, and along with it the chant, i.e. the melody, stand out as the key. The Songs of the Vlachs are created in the same way as other peoples, by singing a new text to the already well-known song. By the way, Vlas are able to tell the lyrics of songs without pain, regardless of their length. This characteristic, which, by the way, testifies to the high level of professionalism of individual performers, is noted in the Vlachs as a characteristic of the entire people, for which there are two possible explanations. According to one of them, it is the product of the aforementioned freedom in the way they live, since as a people they have remained close to nature, and according to the other – that they are able to separate the text from the song because it is most often organized in singing – in clear verse formations, with frequent use of rhyme. The power to separate certain elements from the whole when it comes to singing, also refers to the melody that he owns not only without pain, but its performance on one of the syllables: La, La, La, etc. it serves as a kind of reminder of what the poem is about – the words of Prof. Dr Dimitrije Golemović, author of the monograph.
Prof. Dr. Golemović gave a part of this rich collection to the Cultural Center "Stevan Mokranjac".
