Using the most magnificent instrument – ​​the human voice, Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac is not only the founder of choral music in Serbia,
but also the most precise musical chronicler of his time. The contemporary musical moment of Serbia will forever be created in the footsteps of Mokranjac,
and will be marked by his followers.

Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac is a privilege of the town of Negotin, where he came from, where he acquired his first musical knowledge singing in the church choir,
from where he set out into the world to be recognized as a musical giant.

Negotin has made a legacy for him:
MUSIC FESTIVAL “DAYS OF MOKRANJAC”.

Every September, starting in 1966, the best choirs, performers and composers – everything that reflects the music scene of Serbia and the world – gather in Negotin
for the oldest Serbian festival of this type of music.
