The Museum of Krajina, as its contribution 59. In mokranjac's days, and on the occasion of the Jubilee, 170 years since the birth of Stevan Stojanovic Mokranjac \u2013 the great of Serbian music, an artist whose work still resonates with the power of spirit, beauty and tradition, he organized the exhibition "Mokranjac na Dar"in the gallery of Mokranjac's birth house.<\/div>\n
The exhibition is dedicated to Mokranjac's personal, lesser known but significant segment of his life \u2013 the gifts he received.<\/div>\n
The festival audience was greeted by Danijela Markovi\u0107, director of the Cultural Center "Stevan Mokranjac" and Vesna Stankovi\u0107, director of the Museum of Krajina.<\/div>\n
\u2013 It is our honor to present to the public for the first time the original conductor's baton of Stevan Mokranjac, a gift of the Belgrade Singing Society for 50 years of work. It is interesting that Mokranjac's bat was bought at the auction in Germany by our former compatriot, Dr Gordana Popovic, who has been leading significant projects at the European Commission in Brussels for many years and to whom we owe a great debt of gratitude. She is extremely connected to her homeland, our tradition and culture and this is not the first time that she is returning valuable art exhibits scattered around the world to where they belong - said Vesna Stankovic.<\/div>\n
With the desire to make the conductor's baton of Stevan Mokranjac available to the public, the authors of the exhibition, Sanja Radosavljevic, Ivica Trajkovic and Vesna Stankovic, decided to exhibit other gifts that the famous composer received from his associates, which are kept in Mokranjac's birthplace. The audience had the opportunity to see and get acquainted with the history of the exhibited gifts: stocic with the inclusion of Mother of Pearl, the gift of the Turkish Sultan, the lyre with silver wires and the tower of light as a visual metaphor of the composer's opus, The Gift of the Belgrade singing society, but also the icon of St. Nicholas from the Family cult, the wedding album, greeting cards and portraits.<\/div>\n
- They're not just objects. In them are gathered the emotions, memories and respect that were given to him by his contemporaries. Each gift keeps a story \u2013 about the person who gave it, the moment at which the gift was given, and the connection between the artist and the society in which he lived and created. Through the exhibits, visitors will have the opportunity to discover how a personal gift over time becomes a museum artifact, a testimony not only to a single person, but also to the values of an era. The exhibition invites you to peek into the intimate world of Mokranjac \u2013 to listen to what gifts say without words, to feel the spirit of time and the strength of the relationships that were formed through them - said Sanja Radosavljevic.<\/div>\n
